"I have big hopes and dreams
They say I shoot too high,
But I tell them they’re wrong
I’m right where I belong
That’s why I sing this song."

I don't think that I could ever otherwise feel ... thorough communication and understanding within a group, and especially through music. At this point, I not only look forward to Girls Rock Philly, but I cannot imagine my life without it." --Willow, youth program participant

About Girls Rock Philly
"The thing I enjoy a lot ... was the friends I made and their encouraging words saying to me 'be the best you can be.' I just want to be reunited with my band and just joining our instrumental talents and making us who we are!" --London, summer camper
Girls Rock Philly is a non-profit music and mentoring organization dedicated to empowering girls and young women from the greater Philadelphia region through music education and activities that foster leadership skills, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. We use a supportive, multi-generational, peer-mentoring model, which encourages the fearless expression, artistic experimentation, thoughtful analysis, and imaginative action of our participants. At our model's root is our belief in the powerfully magnetic force of music.
We create programming dedicated to the mutually-reinforcing themes of sound exploration and self empowerment. While acknowledging the forces that shape the realities of young people in Philadelphia, we offer a program rooted in untold histories and memories upon which we build supportive group environments that create celebratory expressions of sound.

"[Attending grp] will help me expand as a musician, gaining the confidence I need to play in front of people. This can also help me as a person and teach me how to work better with other people and try to put myself out there more. I would like to make a career out of music and I think this ... can give me more experience in a different environment and not just my school’s band." --Grace, summer camper
